Flight appeared normal at first. I do not know when the failure occurred, but the motor melted part of the ABS plastic surrounding the motor in the rocket. Upon retrieval, the plastic was hot enough to be reshaped by fingers. Retaining cap melted to the rocket and had to be broken free to get to the motor. Same rocket has had several launches with E-9 motors as well as hotter composite motors without melting or warping.
