description
Weak ejection charge did not push the parachute out. The parachute was NOT tightly packed, as I have had issues previously with weak ejection charges with Quest Q-Jets. The rocket was lost as a result and then luckily found by someone else the next day.
Comments
18mm Q-Jets have .5 g of BP vs. Estes which have .6 g. Estes have 20% more, which is significant. For small diameter airframes you need gas volume which equates to the size of the charge (on large airframes you need PSI which equates to the airframe interior surface area). Q-Jet ejection charges are too small and only usable for streamer or tumble recovery birds.
