Comments
The motor burned for what looked like about half a second before malfunctioning. The motor tube and lower section of the body tube were intact, but the upper section of the body tube (above the motor tube) was blown apart. The motor ejected an unconsumed grain upwards, and it released enough force upwards to eject itself out of the bottom of the motor tube, ripping two threaded inserts out of the lower centering ring. The parachute and shock cord (located in the upper section of the body tube) were undamaged. Body tube and motor tube were cardboard, lower centering ring was 1/2" plywood. Photo submission not working but I have photos and video of the incident.
